Sol 6.1

  1. ولي سلوة عن كل ماضٍ بفتيةٍ

    وجوههم في الناس كالأنجم الزهر

    And in young men I find solace for all who have passed away,

    Their faces among the people are like shining stars.

  2. لهم فلك العليا محل وبدرهم

    محمد من أوفى سناً على البدر

    Their abode is the sphere of high glory, and their full moon

    Is Muhammad, whose radiance surpasses the full moon.

  3. فتى جمع المعروف كهلاً ويافعاً

    وساد الورى بالمكرمات وبالفخر

    A young man who amassed good deeds, in maturity and in youth,

    And rose above humankind through noble deeds and glory.

  4. وندب جرى والنجم في حلبة العلى

    فحاز رهان السبق في مركز النسر

    And a gallant man who raced the star in the arena of glory,

    And so won the race's prize at the Eagle's station.

  5. همام تردى بالمكارم فاغتدى

    منيع الذرى سامي المراتب والقدر

    A noble-hearted man who clothed himself in noble virtues and so became

    Unassailable in his heights, lofty in rank and worth.

  6. نشرت مزاياه بنظمي فانبرى

    نظمي من أوصافه طيب النشر

    I spread his virtues through my verse, and so emerged

    My verse, sweetly scented by his qualities.

  7. ومن بعده المهدي فرع العلى ومن

    به أضحى العلياء مشدودة الأزر

    And after him is al-Mahdi, a scion of glory, and the one

    Through whom lofty glory has become firmly girded with strength.

  8. فيا أيها الأمجاد صبراً على الردى

    فلا شيء أولى بالكرام من الصبر

    So, O illustrious men, be patient in the face of death,

    For nothing is more fitting for the noble than patience.

  9. بقيتم لنا ذخراً وللفضل موئلاً

    وللخائف اللاجي أماناً من الضر

    May you remain a treasure for us and a refuge for virtue,

    And safety from harm for the fearful who seek refuge.

  10. ودمتم مدى الأيام كهفاً لأهلها

    ولا أمكم من بعده طارق الدهر

    And may you remain, throughout the days, a sheltering cave for those who live in them,

    And may no night visitor of fate seek you out after him.
