إن النجيبين الرضا والمصطفى

بالمكرمات والصلاح اتصفا

بالمكرمات والصلاح اتصفا

Indeed, the two noble men, al-Rida and al-Mustafa,

Were distinguished by noble deeds and righteousness.

والتحفا برد العلى واشتملا

والتحفا برد العلى واشتملا

بكل معروفٍ ومجدٍ ووفا

بكل معروفٍ ومجدٍ ووفا

And donned the mantle of high honor and wrapped themselves

In all kindness, glory, and fidelity.

فأشبها أباهما في هديه

فأشبها أباهما في هديه

ومن يشابه أبه قد أنصفا

ومن يشابه أبه قد أنصفا

Thus they resembled their father in his conduct,

And whoever resembles his father has done right.

واقتفيا في الدين إثر فعله

واقتفيا في الدين إثر فعله

وصالح الأفعال نعم المقتفي

وصالح الأفعال نعم المقتفي

And in faith they followed the traces of his conduct,

And righteous deeds—how excellent the follower!

منه استمدا وعلهي اعتمدا

منه استمدا وعلهي اعتمدا

ومن ندى جدوى يديه اغترفا

ومن ندى جدوى يديه اغترفا

From him they drew strength, and on him they relied,

And drew from the dew of his hands' bounty.

وللمسير احتزما بعزمةٍ

وللمسير احتزما بعزمةٍ

تطوي الفيافي نفنفاً فنفنفا

تطوي الفيافي نفنفاً فنفنفا

And for the journey they girded themselves with a resolve

That folds up the deserts, expanse after expanse.

ويمما أعظم بيت قد سما

ويمما أعظم بيت قد سما

على السماوات جميعاً شرفا

على السماوات جميعاً شرفا

And they made for the greatest House, which rose

Above all the heavens in honor.

وكعبة فضلها رب العلى

وكعبة فضلها رب العلى

على بقاع الأرض فيما سلفا

على بقاع الأرض فيما سلفا

And the Kaaba, which the Lord of the heights favored

Above the earth's regions in ages past.

فاستلما تلك القواعد التي

فاستلما تلك القواعد التي

على الهدى بنيانها قد رصفا

على الهدى بنيانها قد رصفا

So they touched those foundations whose

Structure had been laid upon guidance.

وأدركا بالجد عن معرفةٍ

وأدركا بالجد عن معرفةٍ

في عرفات الموقف المشرفا

في عرفات الموقف المشرفا

And with earnest effort and understanding they reached

The honored place of standing at Arafat.

وأحرزا كل المنى واليمن في

وأحرزا كل المنى واليمن في

وادي مني والمروتين والصفا

وادي مني والمروتين والصفا

And attained every wish and blessing in

The valley of Mina, the two Marwas, and al-Safa.

وأديا مناسك الحج على

وأديا مناسك الحج على

ما أمرا به تماماً ووفا

ما أمرا به تماماً ووفا

And performed the rites of pilgrimage according to

What they were commanded to do, fully and faithfully.

ثم أحلا بعد إحرام وقد

ثم أحلا بعد إحرام وقد

حلا بطيبة المحل الأشرفا

حلا بطيبة المحل الأشرفا

Then, after ihram, they left the consecrated state, and had

Alighted in Tayba, the most honored abode.

وانتشقا من طيبها مسك ثرى

وانتشقا من طيبها مسك ثرى

أمسى به روض الهدى مفوفا

أمسى به روض الهدى مفوفا

And inhaled, from its fragrance, the musk of moist earth

With which the garden of guidance had become finely patterned.

والتثما روضة قدسٍ لثمها

والتثما روضة قدسٍ لثمها

فيه لداء المذنب الجاني شفا

فيه لداء المذنب الجاني شفا

And kissed a sacred garden; kissing it

Holds a cure for the sinful offender's sickness.

وفي البقيع بقعة زاكيةٌ

وفي البقيع بقعة زاكيةٌ

قد وقفا ظلها واستوقفا

قد وقفا ظلها واستوقفا

And in al-Baqi lies a pure spot;

They stood in its shade and called for a halt.

وأجريا فوق ثراها أدمعاً

وأجريا فوق ثراها أدمعاً

سائلة تحكي السحاب الأوطفا

سائلة تحكي السحاب الأوطفا

And let tears stream over its soil,

Flowing like the rain-laden clouds.

وراح كل سائلاً صاحبه

وراح كل سائلاً صاحبه

يا صاح ما هاج العيون الذرفا

يا صاح ما هاج العيون الذرفا

And each began to ask his companion:

O friend, what stirred the weeping eyes?

فليهن كل منهما أن أديا

فليهن كل منهما أن أديا

فرضهما أول وقت كلفا

فرضهما أول وقت كلفا

So may each of them rejoice that they fulfilled

Their duty at the first moment it was required of them.
