حَمدْتُ إلاهي وهو مستوجب الحمد

على نِعَمٍ جلّت عن الحصر والعدّ

I have praised my God, who is deserving of praise,

for blessings too sublime to number or count.

وأُهدِي سلاماً مَعْ صلاةٍ إلى الذي

And I offer greetings, together with a prayer, to him who

and to the Family and Companions, all together, and everyone who

وبَعْدَ فإنّي قد أجزتُ لأحمد

Now then: I have granted authorization to one,

Ṣuwaymiʿ, the well-known, in all the learning I possess.

Likewise the worthy al-Sarsī, Sālim al-Riḍā:

Likewise, the distinguished al-Sarsi, Salim, the esteemed,

I have granted him a comprehensive authorization, without refusal.

وأسأل ربَّ العرش أن ينفع الورى

بعلمهما المحمود والفوز بالقصد

And I ask the Lord of the Throne to benefit humankind

through their praiseworthy knowledge, and grant success in the aim.

وأوصيهما أن يلبسا حُلَلَ التُّقى

I counsel them both to clothe themselves in the robes of piety,

And I counsel them both to don the robes of piety,

for knowledge without piety is like bees without honey.

وَصَلِّ إلهي بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيَّةً

وَصَلِّ إلهي بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيَّةً

على المصطفى والآل مَعْ كِلّ ذي وِدِّ

And bless, my God, morning and evening,

And send blessings, my God, morning and evening,

the Chosen One and the Family, together with every loving soul.

وللّه حَمْدٌ دائمٌ وأَجَلُّ ما

وللّه حَمْدٌ دائمٌ وأَجَلُّ ما

به تَخْتِمُ الأنظامَ خاتمةُ الْحَمْدِ

To God be praise forever; and the noblest thing

And to God belongs unceasing praise; and the noblest thing

with which poems are sealed is the closing praise.

with which you close poems is a final expression of praise.
