دلائلُ فضل اللّه فينا تترجمُ

وإنْ غَفَلَتْ عنها طوائفُ نُوَّمُ

وإنْ غَفَلَتْ عنها طوائفُ نُوَّمُ

The signs of God's bounty speak among us,

Though bands of sleepers are heedless of them.

ومِنْ أَكْبَرِ النّعمى وِلاَيةُ مَنْ له

ومِنْ أَكْبَرِ النّعمى وِلاَيةُ مَنْ له

علينا وفينا حكمةٌ وتحكُّم

علينا وفينا حكمةٌ وتحكُّم

And among the greatest blessings is the sainthood of one who has

Wisdom and dominion over us and within us.

تَلَطَّفَ في إخفائها مُتَسَتِّراً

تَلَطَّفَ في إخفائها مُتَسَتِّراً

ومن كَمُلَتْ فيه الولايةُ يَكتُمُ

ومن كَمُلَتْ فيه الولايةُ يَكتُمُ

He was subtle in concealing it, veiling himself;

And one whose sainthood is complete keeps it hidden.

ولمّا أراد اللّهُ إظهارَ سِرِّهِ

ولمّا أراد اللّهُ إظهارَ سِرِّهِ

جرى الأمرُ في الإظهار من حيث يعلم

جرى الأمرُ في الإظهار من حيث يعلم

And when God willed to reveal his secret,

Its disclosure took its course in a way he knows.

أَلَمْ تغتنم وقت المساء وغدوة

أَلَمْ تغتنم وقت المساء وغدوة

بدا الوقف في التفسير آيةَ واعْلَمُوا

بدا الوقف في التفسير آيةَ واعْلَمُوا

Did you not seize the evening hour and the early morning?

The pause in the commentary came at the verse 'And know,'

ليدري صحيحُ الذّوق أنّ مليكَنا

ليدري صحيحُ الذّوق أنّ مليكَنا

له في طريق الكشف نَهْجٌ مُقَوَّمُ

له في طريق الكشف نَهْجٌ مُقَوَّمُ

So that one of sound spiritual taste might know that our king

Has a straight course on the path of unveiling,

وأنّ لنا فيما قضاه مغانماً

وأنّ لنا فيما قضاه مغانماً

فبدّل ذي بدءًا لما هو أعظم

فبدّل ذي بدءًا لما هو أعظم

And that we have gains in what he has decreed;

So he turned this into a prelude to something greater.

فلا زالت الأيّام تخدم سعده

فلا زالت الأيّام تخدم سعده

ولا زال مثلي في حلاه ينظّم

ولا زال مثلي في حلاه ينظّم

So may the days never cease to serve his good fortune,

And may one like me never cease composing verse on his graces.
