سلامٌ طَيِّبٌ كالمسك صَائِكْ

سلامٌ طَيِّبٌ كالمسك صَائِكْ

على العَلَمِ الشّهير وَمَنْ هُنَالِكْ

على العَلَمِ الشّهير وَمَنْ هُنَالِكْ

A sweet greeting, lingering like musk,

A greeting as sweet as musk, your eloquence

Upon the renowned luminary and whoever is there.

Upon the famed world and those who dwell there

وللّه الذي هنّاكَ حَمْدٌ

وللّه الذي هنّاكَ حَمْدٌ

على تيسيره صَعْبَ المَسَالِكْ

على تيسيره صَعْبَ المَسَالِكْ

And praise be to God, who has gladdened you,

And to God, who is present there, praise

For easing the difficulty of the paths.

For facilitating the difficult paths

فإنّك قد رَكِبْتَ من المعالي

فإنّك قد رَكِبْتَ من المعالي

فنوناً غير صاحبِهنّ هَالِكْ

فنوناً غير صاحبِهنّ هَالِكْ

For you have indeed undertaken lofty pursuits

You have embarked upon the highest virtues

Of many kinds, where any but their master is doomed.

Arts none but the perished attempted before

فقمتَ لها قيامَ ذوي اهتمامٍ

فقمتَ لها قيامَ ذوي اهتمامٍ

لَهُمْ في نَيْلِ أَفْضَلِهَا مَدَارِكْ

لَهُمْ في نَيْلِ أَفْضَلِهَا مَدَارِكْ

So you rose to them as the diligent do,

You stood for them with care of those concerned

Who have the insight to attain the best of them.

Who seek to attain the best of them

وباللّه اسْتَعَنْتَ فكان عَوْناً

وباللّه اسْتَعَنْتَ فكان عَوْناً

وأهل العلم مثلك أهل ذَلِكْ

وأهل العلم مثلك أهل ذَلِكْ

And you sought God's help, so He was your aid;

With God you sought aid, and aid He became

And scholars like you are worthy of that.

And the learned, like you, are worthy of that

فجَاءَتْ مثل ما يَهْوَى مُحِبٌّ

فجَاءَتْ مثل ما يَهْوَى مُحِبٌّ

ينادي بالدُّعَا الَّلهُمَّ بَارِكْ

ينادي بالدُّعَا الَّلهُمَّ بَارِكْ

So it came about as one who loves would wish,

So it came just as a lover desires

Calling out in prayer: “O God, grant blessing!”

Calling out 'O God, bless!'

فيا لك من هناءٍ نِلْتَ منه

فيا لك من هناءٍ نِلْتَ منه

سُرُورُ الوَصْلِ من حبّ مُتَارِكْ

سُرُورُ الوَصْلِ من حبّ مُتَارِكْ

So what bliss is yours! From it you have gained

O what joy you obtained from it

The joy of union with an estranged beloved.

The bliss of connection from constant love

أدَامَ اللّهُ عزَّكَ في مزيدٍ

أدَامَ اللّهُ عزَّكَ في مزيدٍ

وَحُسْنَكَ في الوجود بلا مُشَارِكْ

وَحُسْنَكَ في الوجود بلا مُشَارِكْ

May God keep your glory ever growing,

May God make your honor last, ever increasing

And your beauty in this world without an equal.

And your goodness in existence, peerless
