    Whose is this rare enchantment?

And what are these bewitching eyes?

And what is this pure laughter?

And spreads like the surging sea,

And returns like a mocking wave,

And engraves its echoes in hearts,

And remains in memory throughout a lifetime.

    O tenderness poured into souls,

    As overpowering wine is poured!

Through you we forgot the earthly world,

And you made us hear the music of the hereafter.

And O goddess from the regions of Olympus,

Who looked down upon poetic souls,

We bowed our heads to the glory of beauty,

And sought refuge at your throne, O enchantress.

And bowed to a mighty goddess,

Then, by God, minds have not understood you,

Nor has Cairo appreciated your worth.

Not through the gazing eyes of humankind.
