O beauty and majesty pouring forth!

Has the nightingale returned, or has spring come back?

The light has dazzled my eyes, so be gentle

When you draw near, for I cannot bear it.

O roses that have circled around us,

O dew that has quenched thirst,

May God never show you my plight, while I

Tread on thorns and gloom assails me.

O my hopes, my love, and my imagination,

Do not waste a moment, for life has been wasted.

May God never show you my plight, while the nights

Are darkened, with not a ray of light in them.

I have indeed endured woe in them—may you never endure it—

And I begin my day with evening.

    And I have known anguish—the heart's anguish—until

I found no chink of hope in the universe.

No, by my Lord, there is no end in this world,

When resurrection becomes a whisper from a beloved,

When a heart awakens from sleep,

And you are the caller, and love is the one who answers.
