عش مديدا وجدد
واعل والمع كفرقد
Live long, and bring renewal.
And rise high, and shine like Farqad.
لو رأى الحق عبده
وهو بالحق يهتدي
If Truth were to see his servant,
While he is guided by truth,
وعلى الحق رائحاً
وعلى الحق يغتدي
And goes forth in truth at evening,
And sets out in truth at dawn,
بسط التاج باليد
قائلاً قم تقلدِ
He would hold out the crown in his hand,
Saying: Rise, put it on!
قم تقلَّد تقلدِ
يا أميري وسيدي
Rise, put it on, put it on,
O my prince and my lord!
وبإيمان ركع
وتسابيح سجد
And in faith he would bow,
And with praises he would prostrate himself.
بايع الحق عبده
والبرايا بمشهد
Truth would pledge allegiance to his servant,
With all creation looking on.
انظر الساح داوياً
بالنداء المردد
Look at the open grounds resounding
With the repeated call.
انظر البحر زاخراً
بالشباب المجند
Look at the sea surging
With the enlisted youth.
حمدوا فيك يومهم
مشرئبين للغد
They gave thanks for their day because of you,
Craning their necks toward tomorrow.
عش مديدا لتبتني
كل صرح ممرد
Live long, so that you may build
Every smoothly finished edifice.
فلك الرأي قاطعاً
ما به من تردد
For yours is decisive judgment,
With no hesitation in it.
يهدأ السيف في القراب
ويثوى بمرقد
The sword grows still within its sheath
And lies in a resting place.
ولك السيف ساهراً
يقظاً غير مغمد
But your sword keeps vigil,
Wakeful and unsheathed.
خذ بياناً نظمته
شبه عقد منضد
Take an eloquent utterance I have composed,
Like a neatly strung necklace.
ما به من تزلف
جل شعري ومقصدي
There is no flattery in it;
Exalted are my verse and my purpose.
خالد أنت بالعلى
والفعال المسدد
Immortal are you through glory
And rightly guided deeds.
فتقبل على المدى
كل شعر مخلد
So accept, for all time,
Every enduring verse.
