    A night from eternity flings us.

    Its sweet cry shook the stillness.

    Its echoes, and the clouds whispered to one another.

    Of its hours; softly, stand still,

    فاستحلف الأغوار والغابا

    Commune with the lake and the rocks, and return;

    Then adjure the depths and the forest:

    صين الشباب عليك أحقابا

    Say: guard the memory of our love, for indeed

    Youth has been preserved in you for ages.

    Your two states, stormy and calm,

    في رائعات الصخر ناتئة

    In a tall tree bending toward the water,

    In the rock's splendid jutting forms,

    خطرت ملاعبة رقيق صبا

    In the air, steeped in your fragrance,

    سيقول يا أسفا لقد ذهبا

    In all of this, a weeping voice

    Will say: alas, they both have gone!
