O mother, whom do you cry to for help? Who is it that

kindled the surging blaze in your eyes?

O mother, are you walking toward the fire, or

has war been unleashed and hell walked toward you?

What has befallen red freedom? Has

crimson blood flowed over your feet?

Ah, what a woeful, frenzied cry

rang through the horizons from your lips!

Do not be dismayed on the day of sacrifice, for we are all

souls soaring like eagles above you.

So look around: you will find your lair teeming,

and listen—how many say, 'At your service!'

The youth stood, a sacrifice for the homeland's shrine,

and the lion cubs gathered before you.

And the falcon is your crown, the crown of Pharaoh, who

placed the radiant suns in your palms.

And glory is your crown, and al-Suha your home,

and shooting stars and moons lie in your sandals.

O Egypt, you are the universe and the world together,

and the great achievements of generations lie in your two crowns.
