أناI أفديI would ransom علىdespite الهجرانestrangement زيناZayn
وإنand though كناwe were علىwith عمدٍdeliberate intent كنيناwe used a veiled name
I would ransom Zayn, despite her estrangement,
I sacrifice myself for the beautiful estrangement
Though we deliberately used a veiled name.
Even though we intentionally withdrew
وماand not زيناًZayn بتغذيةٍby nourishing أردناwe intended
ولكناbut we عنيناwe meant منwhom عنيناwe meant
Nor was it Zayn we meant to nourish;
We did not intend the estrangement to be beautiful
Rather, we meant whom we meant.
But we became tender from tenderness
أقولI say وقدand already رأيتُI saw لهاof hers سماءًa sky
منof الهجرانِestrangement مقبلةًapproaching إليناtoward us
I say, having seen a sky of hers
I say, as I saw a sky for it
Of estrangement, approaching us,
Approaching us from the estrangement
وقدand already سحتpoured copiously عزاليهاits waterskin spouts بصدٍّwith rejection
حواليناaround us الصدودُrejection ولاand not عليناupon us
Its spouts having poured down rejection:
And its remoteness has roamed around with rejection
Rejection around us, not upon us!
The rejections surround us, not against us
