هو الحر أخلاقاً وبراً وشيمةً
وعقلاًand in intellect وخيرُand the best القومِof the people منhe who أوتيَhas been granted العقلاreason
وعقلاً وخيرُ القومِ من أوتيَ العقلا
He is noble in character, kindness, and disposition,
He is free in morals, dutifulness, and ethics
And in intellect; the best of men is he who has been granted reason.
In intellect, the best of people are those endowed with reason
تراهyou see him طليقاًcheerful وجههُhis face متهللاًbeaming
تراه طليقاً وجههُ متهللاً
كأنas though صقيلاًsomething polished منfrom among عوارضهِhis side teeth يجلىis being burnished
كأن صقيلاً من عوارضهِ يجلى
You see him cheerful, his face beaming,
You see his face radiant and joyful
As though something polished were being burnished among his teeth.
As though polished and cleared of blemishes
