أفيis it within العدلِjustice أنthat نمسيwe reach evening ولاand not تذكريننيyou remember me
وقدthough indeed سفحتhave poured out عينايmy two eyes فيin ذكركremembering you الدماblood
Is it fair that we should reach evening and you not remember me,
Though my eyes have shed blood in remembrance of you?

To God I complain of her stinginess and my generosity:
She has honey from me, yet offers bitter colocynth.
فرديthen restore مصابَthe stricken one القلبِin heart أنتِyou yourself سلبتهِyou robbed him
ولاand do not تتركيهِleave him ذاهلَdistraught القلبِat heart مغرَماconsumed by love
Then restore the heart-stricken man—you yourself have robbed him—
And do not leave him distraught at heart, consumed by love.

To God I complain that she is a stranger,
While, as long as I live, I am her kinsman in love.
