And a sword may prove true on the day of battle
The sword in battle's fury may find true
To its brother, though its sheath is worn.
A brother though of humble lineage born.

As though the radiance of far-spreading lightning
As though a flashing blade from scabbard torn
Lay between its hilt-tassel and its point.
Sweeps flies and drones before it into ruin.

So too a youth of daring will and a sage
Stalwart, and a gray-haired man of sturdy stock.
Of steadfast years alike to peril run.
