زُرvisit مَضجَعاًa resting place فيهِin it قَرينةُthe wife of فارسٍFaris
كَالغُصنِlike a bough باتَتshe lay فيin الضَّريحِthe tomb مُوَسَّدَهْpillowed
Visit the resting place where Faris’s wife lies;
Like a bough, she lay pillowed in the tomb.
أَبكَتshe brought to tears بَنِيthe sons of غَبريلَGabriel بِعدَafter فِراقَهاher departure
دَمعاًtears يَسيلُflowing بِحَسرةٍwith anguish مُتَوقِّدَهْburning
She made Gabriel’s sons weep after her departure,
Tears flowing with burning anguish.
تَرَكَتshe left لَناfor us دارَthe abode of الفَناءِmortality وَأَسرَعَتand she hastened
تَبغيshe seeks حَياةًa life فيin النَعيمِbliss مُخلَّدَهْeverlasting
She left us the abode of mortality and hastened,
Seeking an everlasting life in bliss.
وَلِذاand therefore هَتَفَتُI cried out مُؤرِّخاًcomposing a chronogram فيin إِثرهاher wake
بِجِوارِbeside سَيدةِthe Lady of المَراحِمِMercies سَيِّدهْa lady
And so I cried out in her wake, composing a chronogram:
“A lady beside the Lady of Mercies.”
