زُر قَبرَ جِرجِسَ فَياضَ الكَريم وَقُل
قَدindeed حُزتَyou have gained بَعدafter البَلاياthe afflictions أَجرَthe reward of مُصطَبِرِone who patiently endures
قَد حُزتَ بَعد البَلايا أَجرَ مُصطَبِرِ
Visit the grave of the generous Jirjis Fayyad and say:
Visit the grave of George the generous, and say:
After afflictions, you have gained the reward of one who patiently endures.
After much suffering you've earned reward for patience,
ظَفرتَyou won بالنّعمةِwith the blessing الكُبرىthe supreme بِأوجٍat a summit عَلىrose high
ظَفرتَ بالنّعمةِ الكُبرى بِأوجٍ عَلى
أَرِّختَهُI dated it كُنتَyou were فيهِin it لابسَclothed in الظفَرِtriumph
أَرِّختَهُ كُنتَ فيهِ لابسَ الظفَرِ
You won the supreme blessing at a summit risen high;
You've attained highest favor in triumph,
I dated it: “There you were clothed in triumph.”
You dated it when wearing the raiment of victory.
