    Today Mikhail departed from us,

In the tender bloom of his radiant, fresh youth.

A young man like a sword, sheathed in the earth,

    But after wounding hearts.

He brought grief to the Majdalani family,

Because of it, Beirut resounded with sobbing.

And here he came to rest in a tomb already watered

By people's eyes with streaming tears.

Thus, whenever one visits it—record the date—

One mourns there over the stranger's death.
