لِأَميرَناto our emir اِبنِson of مُرادَMurad مِلحمَMelhem قَدindeed أَتىcame
لِأَميرَنا اِبنِ مُرادَ مِلحمَ قَد أَتى
نَجلٌa son تَسَربلَclothed himself بِالجَلالِin majesty الأَشرفِthe noblest
نَجلٌ تَسَربلَ بِالجَلالِ الأَشرفِ
To our emir, Melhem son of Murad, there has come
a son, robed in the noblest majesty.
حَيٌalive فَسارَand so flowed عَلَيهِover him مَدمَعُtears فارِحٍone rejoicing
حَيٌ فَسارَ عَلَيهِ مَدمَعُ فارِحٍ
بَدَلاًas a replacement بِهِthrough him عَنfor مَدمَعِtears المُتَلهِّفِthe grieving one
بَدَلاً بِهِ عَن مَدمَعِ المُتَلهِّفِ
Alive—and over him flowed the tears of one rejoicing,
replacing, through him, the tears of one who grieved.
كَمُلَreached perfection الجمالُthe beauty اليوسُفيُّlike Yusuf's بِهِin him كَماjust as
كَمُلَ الجمالُ اليوسُفيُّ بِهِ كَما
تَمَّreached completion البَهاءُthe splendor لَدَيهِwith him وَاللُطفُand the grace الخَفِيhidden
تَمَّ البَهاءُ لَدَيهِ وَاللُطفُ الخَفِي
Beauty like Yusuf's reached perfection in him, just as
splendor and hidden grace reached their fullness in him.
وافىarrived بِتاريخٍwith a chronogram فَأَصبَحَand so became جامِعاًuniting
وافى بِتاريخٍ فَأَصبَحَ جامِعاً
ضوءَlight الشِهابِthe meteor عَلىupon مَحاسِنِcharms يوسُفِYusuf
ضوءَ الشِهابِ عَلى مَحاسِنِ يوسُفِ
He arrived with a chronogram, thus uniting
the meteor's light with Yusuf's charms.
