هَذاthis سَليلُscion بَنِيsons of نِقولاNicola قَدindeed غَداhas become
هَذا سَليلُ بَنِي نِقولا قَد غَدا
كَالبَدرِlike the full moon فيin طَيِّthe folds of المَقابرِthe graves يُرمَسُis buried
كَالبَدرِ في طَيِّ المَقابرِ يُرمَسُ
This scion of the house of Nicola is now
This is the offspring of the family of Nicolas who has become
Buried like the full moon in the folds of the graves.
Like the full moon in the expanse of graves whispering,
لِأَخيهِto his brother اِبراهيمَIbrahim ضُمَّhe was joined وَهَكذاand thus
لِأَخيهِ اِبراهيمَ ضُمَّ وَهَكذا
فيat العَرشِthe Throne ضَمَّهُماembraced them both المَقامُthe abode الأَقدَسُthe holiest
في العَرشِ ضَمَّهُما المَقامُ الأَقدَسُ
He was joined to his brother Ibrahim, and thus
To his brother Ibrahim embraced and so
At the Throne, the holiest abode embraced them both.
In the divine throne embraced them the Most Holy Place,
قَدindeed زارَvisited خالِقَهُhis Creator الكَريمِthe generous مخلِّفاًleaving behind
قَد زارَ خالِقَهُ الكَريمِ مخلِّفاً
فيon الأَرضِthe earth ذكرَthe memory of مَكارمٍnoble deeds لاnot تَدرُسُfade away
في الأَرضِ ذكرَ مَكارمٍ لا تَدرُسُ
He has visited his generous Creator, leaving behind
He has visited his generous Creator leaving behind
On earth the memory of noble deeds that never fade.
On earth the memory of virtues that do not fade,
فَدَعاthen summoned بِهِfor him أرِّخrecord the date نَداهُHis bounty مُبَشِّراًbringing glad tidings
فَدَعا بِهِ أرِّخ نَداهُ مُبَشِّراً
أَنتَyou المُقَرَّبُthe favored one عِندَناin our presence ياO بُطرسُPeter
أَنتَ المُقَرَّبُ عِندَنا يا بُطرسُ
Then His bounty summoned him—record the date—bringing glad tidings:
So call upon him, announce his name giving good news
“You are the favored one in Our presence, O Peter.”
You are the one brought near unto us, O Peter.
