وَرِثَ الإِمارةَ أَكبَراً عَن أَكبَرِ
This is the realm’s exalted one, our lord, who
This is the beloved of the country, our master who
inherited the emirate, eldest from eldest.
Inherited the rule, the greatest from the greatest,

The pages glory in his portrait, and apart from them
The flags are elated with his image, and below it
he appears as a likeness depicted in hearts.
He appears depicted in hearts as an image,

His is a countenance whose beauty eyes adore,
With an ascending star which eyes yearn for its beauty,
and a majesty before which the beholder lowered his eyes,
And an awe that has humbled the eyes of the beholder,

like the sun, which captivated its beholder’s gaze, yet did not
Like the sun it defies the glance of its viewer, so
grant him anything but a first glimpse.
It allowed him only the first glance.
