هَذا مَقامُ القُدسِ شادَ بِناءَهُ
اِيناسِيوسْInasios راعيshepherd of الخرافِthe sheep الأَروعُthe magnificent
اِيناسِيوسْ راعي الخرافِ الأَروعُ
This is the abode of holiness; its structure was raised
This is the abode of holiness, built by
by Inasios, the magnificent shepherd of the flock.
Eutychius the shepherd of the finest sheep,
بَيتٌa house بِهِin it توماThomas الرَسولُthe apostle قَدindeed اِنجَلَتbecame manifest
بَيتٌ بِهِ توما الرَسولُ قَد اِنجَلَت
أَنوارُlights of قُدسٍholiness مِنfrom سَناهُhis radiance تَسطَعُshine forth
أَنوارُ قُدسٍ مِن سَناهُ تَسطَعُ
A house wherein is Thomas the Apostle; there have appeared
A house where Thomas the apostle shone
lights of holiness, shining forth from his radiance.
The lights of sanctity from its brilliance beam,
تَشدوsing المَلائِكُthe angels فيin ذَرَاهُits heights وَبابُهُand its gate
تَشدو المَلائِكُ في ذَرَاهُ وَبابُهُ
بابُgate of السَماءِheaven لِكُلِّfor everyone مَنwho يَستَشفِعُseeks intercession
بابُ السَماءِ لِكُلِّ مَن يَستَشفِعُ
The angels sing in its heights, and its gate
The angels sing in its precincts, and its gate
is heaven’s gate for everyone who seeks intercession.
Is the gate of heaven, for all who implore and seek,
قامَتstood عِبادُservants of اللَهGod خاشِعَةًreverently بِهِwithin it
قامَت عِبادُ اللَه خاشِعَةً بِهِ
وَإَلَيهِand to it بِالتاريخِin the chronogram جاءَتthey came تَضرَعُsupplicating
وَإَلَيهِ بِالتاريخِ جاءَت تَضرَعُ
God’s servants stood reverently within it,
The servants of God stood in it reverent,
and to it, as the chronogram says, they came in supplication.
And across time, they came to it pleading and meek.
