ناحَت دِيارُ بَني سيُّورُ فاضِلَةً

ناحَت دِيارُ بَني سيُّورُ فاضِلَةً

أَبكَت بَني الصالحاني عِندَما فُقِدَتْ

أَبكَت بَني الصالحاني عِندَما فُقِدَتْ

The homes of the Sayyur family lamented a virtuous woman,

The homeland of the honorable Siyurites grieved

who made the al-Salihani family weep when she was lost.

When the virtuous were lost

كَريمةٌ قَد دَعاها الشَوقُ فَاِبتَدَرَت

كَريمةٌ قَد دَعاها الشَوقُ فَاِبتَدَرَت

تَبغي جوارَ عَزيزٍ عِندَهُ لُحِدتْ

تَبغي جوارَ عَزيزٍ عِندَهُ لُحِدتْ

A noble woman—longing called her, and she hastened,

seeking to be near a loved one, beside whom she was buried.

Seeking the company of a loved one next to whom she was buried

لَم تبقَ مِن بَعد اِنطونَ الكَريم سِوى

لَم تبقَ مِن بَعد اِنطونَ الكَريم سِوى

عشرين يَوماً إِلَيهِ بِعدَها وَفَدَتْ

عشرين يَوماً إِلَيهِ بِعدَها وَفَدَتْ

She outlived noble Antun by no more than

After the noble Anton only twenty days remained

twenty days, after which she came to him.

Before she went to join him

وَإِنَّ حنَّةَ بَعدَ الصَبرِ قَد ظَفِرَت

وَإِنَّ حنَّةَ بَعدَ الصَبرِ قَد ظَفِرَت

عِندَ الإِلَهِ بِفَردوسٍ بِهِ سَعِدَتْ

عِندَ الإِلَهِ بِفَردوسٍ بِهِ سَعِدَتْ

And Hannah, after patient endurance, has indeed won

And indeed Hannah, after patience, was rewarded

Paradise in God's presence, where she found joy.

With paradise by God, wherein she was blissful

فَقُلت إِذ طابَ تاريخ النَعيم بِهِ

فَقُلت إِذ طابَ تاريخ النَعيم بِهِ

طُوبَى لِنَفسٍ بِتَقوى رَبِّها رَقَدَت

طُوبَى لِنَفسٍ بِتَقوى رَبِّها رَقَدَت

So I said, as the date of bliss was graced by these words:

So I said, since the chronicle of bliss was hers

Blessed is a soul that fell asleep in reverence for her Lord.

Blessed is the soul that rests in devotion to its Lord
