مِنfrom آلِthe family of جَدعونَJadʿun الكِرامَthe noble مُودَّعٌone bid farewell
مِن آلِ جَدعونَ الكِرامَ مُودَّعٌ
وَلَّىdeparted فأَمسىand so became فيin جِوارِthe keeping of كَريمِa generous one
وَلَّى فأَمسى في جِوارِ كَريمِ
One of the noble house of Jadʿun is bid farewell;
he departed and came into the keeping of the Generous One.
شَهمٌa noble-hearted man قَضَىdied فَبَكَتand so wept لِمَصرَعِهِfor his death العُلَىglory
شَهمٌ قَضَى فَبَكَت لِمَصرَعِهِ العُلَى
أَسَفاًin sorrow وَناحَand lamented عَلَيهِover him كُلُّevery يَتيمِorphan
أَسَفاً وَناحَ عَلَيهِ كُلُّ يَتيمِ
A noble-hearted man has died; glory wept for his death,
in sorrow, and every orphan lamented him.
أَرضىpleased بِسيرتِهِthrough his conduct المُهيمُنُthe Guardian سالِكاًwalking
أَرضى بِسيرتِهِ المُهيمُنُ سالِكاً
مَعَهُwith Him بِقَلبٍwith a heart فيin تُقاهُreverence for Him سَليمِsound
مَعَهُ بِقَلبٍ في تُقاهُ سَليمِ
He pleased the Guardian through his conduct, walking
with Him, with a heart sound in its reverence for Him.
فَأَحَلَّهُso He lodged him أَرِّخrecord the date مَنازلَabodes جَنَّةٍParadise
فَأَحَلَّهُ أَرِّخ مَنازلَ جَنَّةٍ
كُتبَwas inscribed الخَلاصُsalvation بِهاin it ليواكيمِfor Joachim
كُتبَ الخَلاصُ بِها ليواكيمِ
So He lodged him—record the date—in the abodes of Paradise;
salvation was inscribed there for Joachim.
