One of the noble Bustros family lies buried;
From the generous family of Besteres
Mercies water his grave each day.
The compassion waters his grave every day

أَسَفاً وَباتَ الفَضلُ يَندُبُ فَقدَهُ
A pillar fell, and the heights wept for his death,
A pillar of love, the heights cried for his death
In grief, and virtue spent the night lamenting his loss.
In sorrow, and virtue lamented his loss
حَتّىuntil إِذاwhen أَمسىcame to be يُجاوِرُdwelling beside رَبَّهُhis Lord

فَأَنالَهُ طِيبَ النَعيمِ وَمَجدِهِ
Until, when he came to dwell beside his Lord,
Until when evening came, next to his Lord
And He granted him the sweetness of bliss and of His glory,
He attained good fortune and his glory

هَذا حَبيبُ الرَبِّ يَسكُنُ عِندَهُ
His chronicler arrived and recited early:
His historian fulfilled it, and recited early:
This is the Lord's beloved; he dwells with Him.
This is the beloved of the Lord, dwelling near Him
