    One of the house of Arqash has departed; when he passed away,

    his departure made the eyes of the weeping women bleed.

    شَخصُ الفَضائلِ وَالكَمالِ نَزيلُهُ

    A noble man passed from sight, descending into a resting place;

    the embodiment of virtues and perfection is its occupant.

    He met afflictions gratefully, adorning himself

    with patience, until its crown adorned him.

    So I wrote—and the chronogram proclaimed its truth:

    “In the abode of the All-Merciful, His friend spent the night.”
