Maroun, our priest, has come to rest here; and so wept
Maron, pillar of our valley, has passed away,
the al-Jamil family, tears streaming with blood.
Making the generous clan shed bloody tears.

He was indeed our example in righteousness and piety;
He was to us an exemplar in righteousness and piety,
his good conduct matched his preaching.
His noble deeds matched the goodness of his words.

He passed on to his Lord, the All-Forgiving, where he came to dwell
He has gone to meet his Lord, the All-Forgiving,
in a paradise that held neither anguish nor sorrow.
To dwell in a garden knowing neither sorrow nor distress.
