    I concealed my love for you in a heart that yearned toward you,

    With longing; the best passion is that which is kept concealed.

    So never think my heart has turned away from you,

    Even if it has spent the night broken by sorrows.

    ما زالَ مُحتَذِراً طَوراً وَمَحذورا

    But one possessed of passion and love is held suspect;

    He has remained wary at times, and at others feared.

    So I turned toward separation, not out of desire or consent,

    But upon examination I am deemed abandoned.

    ضمَّنتُ أَكثَرَها حَذفاً وَتَقديرا

    And this is a sign from one bound by love for you;

    I have filled most of it with ellipsis and implied meaning.
