مِنfrom مالِthe wealth of يوحنّاYuhanna اِبنson of جَمَّالٍJammal جَرىflowed
مِن مالِ يوحنّا اِبن جَمَّالٍ جَرى
هَذاthis السَبيلُthe drinking fountain فَصَحَّand so was assured فيهِthrough it ثَوابُهُhis reward
هَذا السَبيلُ فَصَحَّ فيهِ ثَوابُهُ
From the wealth of Yuhanna, son of Jammal, flowed
With wealth of John son of Jammal this way flowed
this drinking fountain, and through it his reward was assured.
So in it his reward was ensured
فَغَداand so it became لاحداقِfor the pupils of النَواظِرِthe beholders بِهجةًa delight
فَغَدا لاحداقِ النَواظِرِ بِهجةً
أَرِّخrecord the date وِللظامينand for the thirsty راقَwas pleasing شَرابُهُits drink
أَرِّخ وِللظامين راقَ شَرابُهُ
And so it became a delight to beholders’ eyes.
It became for gazes' pupils a delight
Record the date: “And for the thirsty, its drink was pleasing.”
Date it - and for the thirsty fine is its drink
