A woman of noble kin, from the house of Dallāl—
Her parting made eyes and livers bleed.
وَلّتshe departed وَقَدand indeed تَرَكَتshe left لَناfor us مِنfrom بَعدِهاafter her

She departed, leaving behind for us
A beautiful remembrance, repeated with prayers for mercy.

فَثوتso she rested بِجانِبهِbeside him كَماas حَكمَdecreed الرَدىdeath
She descended into the grave of al-Ḥimṣī, Yūsuf, her husband,
And rested beside him, as death decreed.

ياO تُربةَsoil of السوسانthe lilies باكركِmay it visit you at dawn النَدىthe dew
So I wrote a chronogram to be inscribed around her:
O soil of lilies, may the dew visit you at dawn!
