قَبرٌa grave ثَوَتهُshe dwelt in it فَتاةُa young woman آلِfamily of ظَريفةٍZarifa
قَبرٌ ثَوَتهُ فَتاةُ آلِ ظَريفةٍ
كَالغُصنِlike a bough تَسقيهِwater it الدُموعُthe tears المُمطِرهْfalling like rain
كَالغُصنِ تَسقيهِ الدُموعُ المُمطِرهْ
A grave where a young woman of the Zarifa family rests
is like a bough watered by tears that rain down.
فيat السَّبعِseven وَالعشرينَand twenty غابَvanished ضِياؤُهاher light
في السَّبعِ وَالعشرينَ غابَ ضِياؤُها
وَكَذاand likewise الأَهِلَّةُthe crescent moons فيon اللَياليthe nights المُقمِرَهْmoonlit
وَكَذا الأَهِلَّةُ في اللَيالي المُقمِرَهْ
At twenty-seven, her light vanished,
as do crescent moons on moonlit nights.
لَبَّتshe answered دُعاءَthe call of اللَهِGod مُسرِعَةًin haste وَقَدand indeed
لَبَّت دُعاءَ اللَهِ مُسرِعَةً وَقَد
نالَتshe gained بِرَحمَتِهِthrough His mercy الرِّضىfavor وَالمَغفِرَهْand forgiveness
نالَت بِرَحمَتِهِ الرِّضى وَالمَغفِرَهْ
She swiftly answered God's call, and indeed
gained, through His mercy, favor and forgiveness.
فَأَتىthen he came مُؤرِّخُهاher chronicler وَبَشَّرَand announced glad tidings قائِلاًsaying
فَأَتى مُؤرِّخُها وَبَشَّرَ قائِلاً
بِالمُلكِwith a kingdom فازَتshe won فيin النَعيمِbliss اسكندَرَهْIskandara
بِالمُلكِ فازَت في النَعيمِ اسكندَرَهْ
Then her chronicler came and announced glad tidings, saying:
Iskandara has won a kingdom in bliss.
