Agapios the munificent, our bishop, has departed

to bliss, in which he has attained his goal.

A prelate whose church mourned his renowned virtue

when he departed, and the episcopal see mourned his care.

This is he whose zeal upheld the faith

and withstood Time until he checked its onslaught.

Through him, churches and schools arose in

a land that, through all time, will not forget his nobility.

So console his people, whose refuge he had been

for fifty years, during which they enjoyed his care,

until his Creator chose him for the crown of glory.

So all of us—record the date—seek his intercession.
