To Ignatius we offer congratulations on an award

With which the lord of glory and bounty favored him—

The sovereign of humankind, Abd al-Hamid, whose

Gifts have become rain, copious in its wellsprings.

A generous man, he deemed him worthy of honor,

So he bestowed on him, from both his hands, the noblest gift:

A medal that became a mark of merit, through which appeared

The clearest proofs of his renowned excellence.

So, when it adorned his breast, I recited, marking the date:

The medal of high honors adorned the breast of virtues.
