قَبراً بِحَبَّاتِ القُلوب تَكَلّلا
Beloved Rosine Anhoury has come to rest
Rosine Anhouri, the precious one, has built
In a grave wreathed with the cores of hearts.
A grave with pieces of hearts adorned
بِكرٌa maiden أَتَتcame مَنfrom أَرضِthe land of مَصرَEgypt فَضَمَّهاthen enfolded her
بِكرٌ أَتَت مَن أَرضِ مَصرَ فَضَمَّها
فيat السَبعِseven مِنof أَعوامِهاher years كَفَنُthe shroud of البِلىdecay
في السَبعِ مِن أَعوامِها كَفَنُ البِلى
A maiden came from the land of Egypt, then was enfolded
A virgin came from the land of Egypt and took her
At seven years of age by the shroud of decay.
In the seventh of her years, the shroud of tribulation
لَمdid not تَبقَremain إِلّاexcept نَحوَabout شَهرٍa month عِندَناwith us
لَم تَبقَ إِلّا نَحوَ شَهرٍ عِندَنا
وَكَذاand such بَقاءُthe stay of الوَردِroses ماlinking particle بَينَamong المَلاhumankind
وَكَذا بَقاءُ الوَردِ ما بَينَ المَلا
She stayed with us for only about a month,
She had not stayed with us except nearly a month
And such is the rose's stay among humankind.
Such is the life of a rose between assemblies
فَأَشادَthen proclaimed وَالِدُهاher father السَليمُSalim مُؤرِّخاًrecording the date
فَأَشادَ وَالِدُها السَليمُ مُؤرِّخاً
قَطَفَتكِplucked you باكِرَةًwhile still young مَلائكةُthe angels of العُلىthe heights
قَطَفَتكِ باكِرَةً مَلائكةُ العُلى
Then her father Salim proclaimed, recording the date:
So her father Saleem the historian has built
The angels on high plucked you in your youth.
