لِأَميرَناfor our prince اِبنِson of مُرادَMurad مِلحمَMilhem قَدindeed أَتىcame
لِأَميرَنا اِبنِ مُرادَ مِلحمَ قَد أَتى
نَجلٌa son تَسَربلَrobed himself بِالجَلالِin majesty الأَشرفِthe noblest
نَجلٌ تَسَربلَ بِالجَلالِ الأَشرفِ
To our prince Milhem, son of Murad, has come
a son robed in the noblest majesty.
حَيٌalive فَسارَso flowed عَلَيهِover him مَدمَعُthe tears of فارِحٍone rejoicing
حَيٌ فَسارَ عَلَيهِ مَدمَعُ فارِحٍ
بَدَلاًas a substitute بِهِthrough him عَنfor مَدمَعِthe tears of المُتَلهِّفِthe grieving one
بَدَلاً بِهِ عَن مَدمَعِ المُتَلهِّفِ
Alive—so tears of joy flowed over him,
replacing, through him, the tears of one grieving.
كَمُلَwas perfected الجمالُbeauty اليوسُفيُّYusuf-like بِهِin him كَماjust as
كَمُلَ الجمالُ اليوسُفيُّ بِهِ كَما
تَمَّbecame complete البَهاءُsplendor لَدَيهِwith him وَاللُطفُand grace الخَفِيhidden
تَمَّ البَهاءُ لَدَيهِ وَاللُطفُ الخَفِي
Yusuf-like beauty was perfected in him, just as
splendor and hidden grace reached their fullness in him.
وافىarrived بِتاريخٍwith a chronogram فَأَصبَحَand so became جامِعاًone who combines
وافى بِتاريخٍ فَأَصبَحَ جامِعاً
ضوءَthe light of الشِهابِthe meteor عَلىupon مَحاسِنِthe charms of يوسُفِYusuf
ضوءَ الشِهابِ عَلى مَحاسِنِ يوسُفِ
He arrived with a chronogram, thus uniting
the meteor's light with Yusuf's charms.
