This is the beloved of Banu Sham‘un, swiftly overtaken

by death’s herald, leaving eyes bleeding after his passing.

Fresh and flourishing, he had not reached twenty—alas for me!—

when we saw him descend into the folds of the earth.

He answered God’s call when He summoned him, and went

to Him, wrapped in the robe of divine favor.

So dwell with Him secure, O Amin, just as

you were named; you shall meet neither anguish nor dread.

And may rain from His mercies drench your resting place,

watering you. I mark the date: “O bough that withered therein!”
