Yusuf made the sons of al-Sabbagh weep when he passed away—

Tears whose drops appeared like blood.

A noble man whose heart grew pure through reverence for God,

Unclouded, and whose virtues attained perfection.

And indeed he died in God, passing to

A summit whose angelic choirs sing praises on high.

And history’s glad tidings cry out around him:

“Blessed is he whose death was in the Lord.”
