From the house of Yāridah, a gallant man has died and come to rest
A noble man of the Yared family has died and come to rest
in a grave—the Merciful’s favor poured forth upon him.
In a grave upon which the All-Merciful’s favor is poured.
أَبقىhe left لَناfor us العالَمَthe world الفانيfleeting وَسارَand he journeyed إِلىto

He left us the perishing world and journeyed toward
He left us the fleeting world and journeyed to
a Throne where pardon for the righteous stands inscribed.
A throne where pardon for the righteous is inscribed.
مَضىhe departed إِلىto جَنةٍparadise طابَwas sweet النَعيمُthe bliss بِهاin it
مَضى إِلى جَنةٍ طابَ النَعيمُ بِها

And a weeping woman’s tears pour forth like a torrent.

فَخَطَّ سَطراً عَلى التاريخ دَلَّ بِهِ
بِرَحمةِby the mercy of اللَّهِGod فَضلُFadl (literally, grace of) اللَّهِAllah (literally, God) مَصحوبُaccompanied

“Fadl Allah is accompanied by God’s mercy.”
