مَثوىًa resting place بِهِin it نَزَلَsettled المُقيمُthe dweller ميمِّماًseeking
مَثوىً بِهِ نَزَلَ المُقيمُ ميمِّماً
مِنfrom حَضرةِthe presence of الرَحمنِthe All-Merciful خَيرthe finest جِوارِrefuge
مِن حَضرةِ الرَحمنِ خَير جِوارِ
A resting place where its dweller settled, seeking
A dwelling in which the Eternal settled, coming
From the All-Merciful's presence the finest refuge.
From the Presence of the Merciful, the best of neighbors.
فَإِذاso when وَقَفتyou stand بِهِat it فَصلِّthen pray عَلىover ثَرىًearth
فَإِذا وَقَفت بِهِ فَصلِّ عَلى ثَرىً
سَكَبَتpoured عَلَيهِupon it مَراحمthe mercies of الغفّارِthe All-Forgiving
سَكَبَت عَلَيهِ مَراحم الغفّارِ
So when you stand here, pray over the earth
So if you stand by it, pray blessings on a grave
Upon which the All-Forgiving's mercies have poured.
That was showered with the Compassionate Forgiver's mercies.
وَسَلِand ask for الرِضىdivine favor عَمَّنfor the one whom حَواهُit holds him مَنfrom among بَنِيthe sons of
وَسَلِ الرِضى عَمَّن حَواهُ مَن بَنِي
سَلومَSalloum مزهرَMuzhir يَومَon the day of عُقبىthe final outcome of الدّارِthe abode
سَلومَ مزهرَ يَومَ عُقبى الدّارِ
And ask divine favor for him whom it holds, of the sons of
And ask well-being for the one its people covered,
Salloum—Muzhir—on the day of the final abode,
On the day they adorned the loveliest spot on earth.
لِنَفوزَso that we may succeed مِنthrough تاريخِهits date (chronogram) بوُقُوفِناby our standing
لِنَفوزَ مِن تاريخِه بوُقُوفِنا
فيat الحَشرthe Gathering بَينَamong جَماعةِthe company of الأَبرارِthe righteous
في الحَشر بَينَ جَماعةِ الأَبرارِ
So that, through its chronogram, we may succeed in standing
That by standing here now we might profit by its date
At the Gathering among the company of the righteous.
And be assembled at the Resurrection with the righteous.
