وافاكَhas come to you ابراهيمُO Ibrahim نَجلٌa son قَدindeed صَفاbecame pure
وافاكَ ابراهيمُ نَجلٌ قَد صَفا
مَعَهُwith him السُرورُjoy فَطابَand so grew sweet مَوردُthe water-source of ريِّهِthe quenching of his thirst
مَعَهُ السُرورُ فَطابَ مَوردُ ريِّهِ
A pure son has come to you, Ibrahim.
Ibrahim came to you, a pure and gentle son
With him comes joy, and sweet grows the spring that quenches his thirst.
With him came joy, so his Lord's abode was blessed
سرَّتgladdened بَنِيthe sons of الجمَّالِal-Jammal طَلعةُthe appearance of وَجهِهِhis face
سرَّت بَنِي الجمَّالِ طَلعةُ وَجهِهِ
وَاعادَand brought back ميخائيلَMikhail بَعدَafter مضِيِّهِhis passing
وَاعادَ ميخائيلَ بَعدَ مضِيِّهِ
The sight of his face gladdened the sons of al-Jammal.
The children of Beauty rejoiced in his face
And he brought Mikhail back after his passing.
And Michael returned after his departure
فَأَتاكَso he came to you باِسمِwith the name of زَعيمِthe leader of جُندِthe host of اللَهِGod فيin
فَأَتاكَ باِسمِ زَعيمِ جُندِ اللَهِ في
فَردوسِهِHis Paradise وَأَتيتَand you came باِسمِwith the name of صَفِيِّهِHis chosen one
فَردوسِهِ وَأَتيتَ باِسمِ صَفِيِّهِ
So he came to you bearing the name of the leader of God's host in
So he came to you in the name of the commander of God's army
His Paradise, while you came bearing the name of His chosen one.
And you came in the name of his chosen one
دُمremain أَرِّخوrecord the date (you all) جَذَلاًjoyful بِكَوكَبِby the star of سَعدهِhis good fortune
دُم أَرِّخو جَذَلاً بِكَوكَبِ سَعدهِ
وَيَعيشُand may he live مَحروساًguarded بِسَيفِby the sword of سَميِّهِhis namesake
وَيَعيشُ مَحروساً بِسَيفِ سَميِّهِ
Remain—record the date—gladdened by the star of his good fortune.
Write it down as an auspicious date with his fortunate star
And may he live, guarded by his namesake's sword.
And may he live protected by his sharp sword
