مِنfrom آلِthe family of عزِّIzz (glory of) الدينِal-Din (the faith) شَهمٌa noble man قَدindeed مَضىdeparted

A noble man of the house of Izz al-Din has departed
A noble one from the family of Honorable Faith has passed
from us, as inevitable fate decreed.
Away from us as fate had destined
رُكنٌa pillar لَقَدindeed أَبكىmade weep المَكارمَnoble virtues وَالتُقَىand piety
وَبَكىand wept اليَتيمُthe orphan عَلَيهِfor him وَالمَظلومُand the oppressed
A pillar, he made noble virtues and piety weep;
A pillar, who truly lamented all virtues and piety
and the orphan and the oppressed wept for him.
And over whom the orphan and the oppressed wept
وَلَقَدand indeed أَجابَanswered دُعاthe call of الإِلَهِGod فَضَّمَهُso enfolded him
بِجِوارِin the shelter of رحمتِهHis mercy رِضىًfavor وَنَعيمُand bliss
And indeed he answered God's call, and was enfolded
He answered the prayer of God, who gathered him
in the shelter of His mercy by favor and bliss.
In the company of His mercy, pleasure and bliss
وَلِذاand therefore كَتبتُI wrote عَلىupon ثَراهُhis grave's soil مُؤرِّخاًmarking the date
فيin مَنزلِthe abode of الأَخيارِthe righteous إِبراهيمُIbrahim
And so I inscribed upon his grave, marking the date:
Thus I inscribed on his burial place, chronicling
In the abode of the righteous is Ibrahim.
That in the abode of the righteous lies Abraham
