كَالسَيفِ قَد غالَهُ صَرفُ القَضا عَجلا
A grave for generous Abboud Shoshani, who lies at rest
A drawing of the generous Ubayd al-Shawshani who rested
like a sword; fate's turn swiftly carried him off.
Like a sword worn down by the swift decree of fate

A noble-hearted man departed; then every morning cloud watered him
A magnanimous man has passed, and every passerby paused
with the rain of divine favor, and tears watered him as they poured.
The rain of contentment watered him, as did tears when they poured

He spent his life doing good, holding fast
He lived life firmly upholding good, clinging
to God, until he completed his allotted span in His forgiveness.
To God until fate took him in His pardon
