مِنfrom آلِthe family of هاشمَHashim راحلٌa departed one نَزَلَdescended الثَرىthe earth
مِن آلِ هاشمَ راحلٌ نَزَلَ الثَرى
فَسَقَتso watered شَآبيبُshowers المَدامعِtears لَحدَهُhis grave
فَسَقَت شَآبيبُ المَدامعِ لَحدَهُ
A departed man of the house of Hashim descended into the earth;
From the clan of Hashim, a traveler descended into the earth
so showers of tears watered his grave.
So streams of tears watered his grave
رُكنٌa pillar بَكاهُmourned him الفَضلُvirtue وَالعلياand eminence كَماjust as
رُكنٌ بَكاهُ الفَضلُ وَالعليا كَما
باتَتspent the night ذووthose with الحاجاتِneeds تَندبُlamenting فَقدَهُhis loss
باتَت ذوو الحاجاتِ تَندبُ فَقدَهُ
A pillar whom virtue and eminence mourned, just as
A pillar whose excellence and nobility were mourned
those in need spent the night lamenting his loss.
As the needy spent the night grieving his loss
صَرفَspent الحَياةَlife عَلىin التُقىpiety حَتّىuntil إِذاwhen
صَرفَ الحَياةَ عَلى التُقى حَتّى إِذا
وَلَّىpassed away فَنالَand so attained صَفاthe purity of النَعيمbliss وَمَجدَهُand its glory
وَلَّى فَنالَ صَفا النَعيم وَمَجدَهُ
He spent his life in piety until, when
He lived his life in piety until, when
he passed away, he attained unclouded bliss and its glory.
He passed on, he attained heavenly bliss and glory
وافىarrived مؤرِّخُهُhis chronicler فَصاحَand cried out مُبَشراًbearing glad tidings
وافى مؤرِّخُهُ فَصاحَ مُبَشراً
اليَومَtoday عَبدservant of اللَهِGod أَضحىhas come to be عِندَهُwith Him
اليَومَ عَبد اللَهِ أَضحى عِندَهُ
His chronicler arrived and cried out, bearing glad tidings:
His chronicler came to him calling out joyfully
Today Abdullah has come to be with Him.
Today Abdullah is in the presence of his Lord
