تَصَّبرواbe patient ياO بَنِيsons of الجَمَّالِal-Jammal بَعدَafter فَتىًa young man
تَصَّبروا يا بَنِي الجَمَّالِ بَعدَ فَتىً
نالَattained الرِضىfavor فيin جِوارِthe proximity of الخالقِthe Creator الأَزَليthe eternal
نالَ الرِضى في جِوارِ الخالقِ الأَزَلي
Be patient, O sons of al-Jammal, after the loss of a young man
Be patient, O sons of beauty, after a man
Who attained favor beside the eternal Creator.
Who attained satisfaction in the presence of the Eternal Creator
لِذاكَfor that reason إِذاwhen نَظَمَcomposed in verse التاريخthe chronogram قُلتُI said بِهِin it
لِذاكَ إِذا نَظَمَ التاريخ قُلتُ بِهِ
قَدindeed حَلَّsettled فيin العَرشِthe Throne يوحَنّاYuhanna مَعَwith الرُسُلِthe apostles
قَد حَلَّ في العَرشِ يوحَنّا مَعَ الرُسُلِ
Thus, when the chronogram was composed, I said in it:
Therefore, when history is written about him, I will say
Yuhanna has taken his place at the Throne with the apostles.
