A grave wherein lies a departed member of the Lutfi family.
The mercies of God, the Eternal Refuge, have descended upon him.
شَهمٌa noble man بِتَقوىin fear of اللَهِGod عاشَhe lived وَبرُّهُand His goodness
وَرعاًdevoutly وَتَحتَand beneath رَجاءِhope of رَحمَتِهِHis mercy رَقَدْhe lay to rest
A noble man, he lived in fear of God and through His goodness,
Devoutly; and beneath the hope of His mercy he lay to rest.
وَلَقَدand indeed دَعاهُHe called him اللَهُGod نَحوَtoward جِوارِهِHis side
فَأَجابَso he answered مُبتَدِراًhastening وَفاتَand was lost لَناto us الجَسدْthe body
And indeed, God called him to His side.
He answered at once, and the body was lost to us.
فَأَحَلَّهُso He lodged him أَرَّختُI recorded the date ساحَةَthe courtyard of دارِهِHis abode
إِذwhen شاءَHe willed أَنthat يَحياshould live الحَبيبُthe beloved إِلىto الأَبَدْeternity
So He lodged him—I recorded the date—in the courtyard of His abode,
When He willed that the beloved should live forever.
