رَمسٌa tomb لأسبرَfor Asbar قَدindeed سَقَتwatered صَفحاتَهُits sides
رَمسٌ لأسبرَ قَد سَقَت صَفحاتَهُ
سُحبُclouds الرِّضىfavor فيat بُكرَةٍdawn وَأَصيلِand dusk
سُحبُ الرِّضى في بُكرَةٍ وَأَصيلِ
A tomb for Asbar, whose sides have been watered
By clouds of favor at dawn and dusk.
شَهمٌa noble man تَرَدَّىclothed himself بِالصَلاحِin righteousness وَلَمand did not يَزَلcease
شَهمٌ تَرَدَّى بِالصَلاحِ وَلَم يَزَل
فيamong النّاسِthe people مَذكوراًremembered بِكُلfor every جَميلِgood quality
في النّاسِ مَذكوراً بِكُل جَميلِ
A noble man, robed in righteousness, who never ceased
To be remembered among the people for every good quality.
هَذاthis الَّذيhe who اِتَخَذَtook التَصَبُّرَpatient endurance فيamid البَلاaffliction
هَذا الَّذي اِتَخَذَ التَصَبُّرَ في البَلا
درعاًa shield فَاحرزَand so won أَيَّماwhat a great اِكليلِcrown
درعاً فَاحرزَ أَيَّما اِكليلِ
This is he who took patient endurance amid affliction
As a shield—and what a crown he won!
ياO آلَfamily of ميخائيلَMichael إِنَّindeed فَقيدَكُمyour departed one
يا آلَ ميخائيلَ إِنَّ فَقيدَكُم
فيin جَنَةٍa paradise طابَتwas delightful لِكُلِّfor every نَزيلِguest
في جَنَةٍ طابَت لِكُلِّ نَزيلِ
O family of Michael, indeed your departed one
Is in a paradise delightful to every guest.
أَمسىcame to be هُناكَthere كُماas يُؤرّخrecords the date آمِناًsecure
أَمسى هُناكَ كُما يُؤرّخ آمِناً
فَأَقامَso he dwelt تَحتَbeneath جَناحِthe wing of ميخائيلِMichael
فَأَقامَ تَحتَ جَناحِ ميخائيلِ
He is now there, secure, as the chronogram records:
So he dwelt beneath Michael's wing.
