منfrom ينابيعwellsprings الزمانtime المنصرمbygone
It borrows fire, however remote the past,
The fire still burns though the footsteps are long
From the wellsprings of bygone time.
From the springs of times gone past

How many a folded-away night of ours
How many folded nights we have
It has unfolded, so we seem to be in a dream.
Which I unfurled as if in a dream

Sometimes the day returns through it, and on
Perhaps today it returns with
Its cheerful face lie clouds from yesterday.
A bright face instead yesterday's gloom

Sometimes withered hopes stir through it,
Perhaps it shakes those pained by separation
And it may well awaken the demon of regret.
And awakens the devil of regret

Many a slumbering voice it has awakened
How many a voice awoke its sleeping
In its hearer's ear, like melody.
So musical to listening ears

وابتنتand it built داراًa home لهاfor itself بينamong الرممmouldering remains
The past has yielded its obedience to it,
The past surrenders to it completely
And it has built itself a home amid mouldering remains.
And builds a home for it amidst the ruins
