My prayer to my Lord is silence in the temple of darkness,
To Him whose throne is the enveloping light of majesty.

Yet my tongue pours forth in poetry,
And reveals a side of me otherwise concealed.

So do not censure my poetry: it is the wind—at times
It rests; at others it blusters without pause.

Its scorching blast sears us; at other times
Its north wind and icy gale confront you.
