Abbas, your dwelling has kept you far from your closest friends,

and relics have humbled you, away from the living.

I remember—may I be your ransom—a time whose spreading trees were lush,

which I enjoyed awhile, when you were my neighbor.

    We were a sky, and affection was its stars;

so no horizon darkened, nor did a whirlwind rise.

And love's crescent would glide along a horizon,

its halos there were reverence and esteem.

So visit your brother, despite the distance, with a rhyme,

like dew that brings flowers to life in the garden.

I, though the days have severed our bond,

am a frequent visitor, driven by a surge of longing and tender yearning.
