ما أضعت الهوى ولا خنتك الغي

ب وحاشا لمثلنا أن يخونا

ما حمدنا ما كان قبل ذميما

ما حمدنا ما كان قبل ذميما

أو رضينا ما كان لا يرضينا

أو رضينا ما كان لا يرضينا

We have not praised what was once blameworthy,

We did not praise what was once mean,

Or been content with what did not please us.

Or accept what did not please us before.

ليس برح الهموم ما رحت تبدي

ليس برح الهموم ما رحت تبدي

ه ولكن ما بات فيك دفينا

ه ولكن ما بات فيك دفينا

The torment of sorrow is not what you keep revealing,

Worries do not cease when you cease them,

But what lies buried within you.

But what is hidden in you remains hidden.
