Out of love for embracing the fair maiden upon couches,

I sought to embrace the adversary amid battles.

And I forsook life's pleasures and those who dwell in it—

    the buxom, tender, lethal beauties.

So, son of Yamin al-Din, rise to embrace her

with a fine, sharp-edged blade, pitch-dark as night.

and cast aside the counsel of the basest weaklings.

Men who grew up in honor, excellence, and wealth,

and became a refuge amid deadly calamities.

And around them, from their nomads, stands every fierce-eyed warrior,

strong, deep in despair, deadly amid terror.

to you like the seas' waves rushing one upon another.

So summon them: they will come to you from every side,

with polished blades that rend the backs of heads.

And command them to aid God; such aid is obligatory

in every circumstance, for fool and devotee alike.

a bride—take her with clasping hands.

Her upkeep and her bridal dower rest with God,

and through her you gain houris, the houris upon couches.

But she is called jihad; do not be

frightened by this name, O son of Malik.

    وإلا ثلاث من رجال صعالك

    For five hundred will set the truth speeding onward;

or, failing that, three hundred impoverished men.

to enjoin indecency and spread destruction,

to God—exalted is God, my Lord and my Master.

for they are enemies of those who observe the sacred rites.

And one of them can outdo a nation in insults,

yet is defenseless when the hoofed steeds wheel.

for victory: hard-pressed because their paths are narrow.

will cease to laugh when you come upon him at dawn.

And invoke blessings upon the Guide, your Prophet, so long as

torrents flow in a valley or ships sail at Hasik.
